Isaac Emery - Musical Biography

Isaac Emery is a 10 year piano student of Carol Stone. He is the son of Dr. Mark and Terri Emery of Kingsport. Isaac is homeschooled and is in the 10^th grade. He is the youngest child of a very musical family, which includes a sister and three brothers. His sister, Rachael, just completed her Master’s Degree in violin pedagogy at University of Texas at Austin and has returned to Kingsport to teach violin with the Suzuki program there. Isaac’s grandmother, Sara Emery, is an accomplished pianist and has her own private studio.

Isaac is an extremely artistic and creative student. He loves creative writing, is currently working in the medium of pastels in his art class, and enjoys spending hours at the piano composing and developing new repertoire at his leisure. He has also written a monthly newspaper column in the Ink section of the Kingsport Times-News. Isaac is interested in studying architecture, and he is developing his potential at the piano.

Isaac’s musical accomplishments include Superior ratings for Appalachian Music Teachers Association (AMTA) Auditions in 2009-2012 and 2014. He also received Superior ratings at the Tennessee Music Teachers Association (TMTA) auditions in 2010 and 2011. Isaac participated in the Sonatina Festival at Milligan College in 2008 through 2011, and was chosen as an outstanding artist with an invitation to play in the honors recital for 2011. He received Superior ratings from the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) from 2006 through 2008. Isaac has been certified by Alexander Peskanov in the Russian Technical Regimen in Levels I, II, III, IV and V, and is pursuing certification in Level VI. Isaac is a frequent participant in master classes with such teachers as Dr. David Brunell and Alexander Peskanov. The Bristol Music Club (BMC) awarded Isaac 1^st Place in Division IV in 2010 and 2^nd place in Division V in 2011, and he has performed at a consistently high level through the 2014 competition, including 1^st Place in Division III in 2013. He was also selected to perform in the Paramount Theater’s Tunes at Noon series in 2010 and 2011.

Isaac was also selected to play with Valentina Listsa in a 2012 fundraising event for the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra at the Carnegie Hotel.

Isaac regularly performs as a soloist in the annual Peskanov Piano Festival, which has been held at Mathes Hall at ETSU and at the Paramount Theater in Bristol.
